MAIN STEPS FOR DESIGN RECTANGULAR BEAM ARE FOLLOWS-

1.How to find out depth of beam

Depth of beam = L/16 

Where  L = Length  of Beam , 16 = constant value

Ex- if length of beam L = 8 meter 

So Depth of Beam , D = 8 / 16



D = 0.5 Meter.

2.How To Find Out Breath Of Beam

Breath of beam = 50% - 60 % of depth of beam

Depth of beam = 0.5 Meter

So
Breath of Beam = 0.25 to 0.30 meter

3.How to find out self weight of the Beam

SELF WEIGHT = B x D x density of concrete

B = Breath & D = depth of beam


density of concrete without steel W = 145 - 154 lbs/ft³  or Cft..
